Boost your AI energies and knowledge. A weekly digest with the latest news on the AI field. With focus on Creativity: Design, Art, Tech and everything between. In your inbox every Monday.
Hi, fellow creatives, we are over the moon!
Welcome to our issue #4. It’s Saturday, we know! We’ve been busy and not spaced out for the last two weeks. Our friends at NextDC invited us to present a lecture and run a workshop on Creativity & AI at Shapeshift Festival (Sofia, Bulgaria). Back to Earth. We are in Lisbon for EpicWeb3 to learn how AI, Web3 & Blockchain technologies live together. The goal: bringing you the latest in these spaces.
At Shapeshift, inspired by incredible speakers such as Professor Henk Hoekstra we learned about Dark Matter. And the to-be-launched Euclid satellite. We met Alexandre Glas from NFT Gallery. Professor Gergana Rusenova, architect, scientist, and creative. She created the Rock Print Pavillion among others. We’ve talked about space, the universe, technology, and of course AI! We are over the moon, but feel like we are experiencing a Supernova!
Top 3 AI Tools
We have now 529 tools in our repository focusing on Creative tooling.
Luma AI from Luma Labs is an iOS app that generates 3D views (and also models) of objects based on photos. Capture people, objects, landscapes, and anything you can dream of. What used to take light years using Desktop computers, now is possible with your smartphone in seconds. You can get inspired by exploring their universe of impressive examples.
Their big bang does not stop there. You can transform your videos using their API to 3D models & NeRFs. What are NeRFs (Neural Radiance Fields)? Neural networks are trained to reconstruct objects in 3D from pictures as sources. Last but not least, Luma released an imagine feature to prompt an AI model to generate a 3D model - what’s next wormhole space traveling?
Let’s stay in the 3D galaxy. What about Polycam? An app for iOS, Android & web that lets you capture objects and scan complete rooms in 3D. Poly can help you build floor plans, architectural renderings, VFX and filmmaking, 3D art, scene building, and more. Remember when LiDAR scanning was only accessible through iPhone Pros? Not anymore with Poly!
Apart from a meteoric app, they also have a stellar community sharing their incredible creations. The fun does not stop here, Poly also has a 3D material generator. We are just starting in the 3D space, but things are heating up like a supernova!
Let’s travel to a different universe. This time we will visit the constellation of Stability.AI. Let’s talk about ClipDrop, an image manipulation website tool. You can remove & replace backgrounds from images or remove text. But since is powered by Stable Diffusion. You can also generate variations or use inpainting to erase unwanted parts of an image. They offer a generous free tier that allows you to edit images with a resolution of up to 1024×1024.
ClipDrop most recent feature is UnCrop. A new take on the ability to paint beyond the original image canvas. Yes, the “outpainting” feature that DALL-e popularised last year and everyone is adding to their stack. Even Adobe.
A last note that ClipDrop’s AI model is trained on large images which can result in very impressive results. Specially reimagining variations from a single image as you can see in their post announcing ReImagine XL.
